71-year-old Mr. Kang was admitted to the hospital seven days after suffering from a sudden large-area cerebral infarction, accompanied by high fever, impaired consciousness, and decreased blood pressure. At that time, he presented with complete paralysis of the left limbs, mixed aphasia (unable to speak or understand language), and severe glossoptosis.

Diagnoses included acute cerebral infarction, severe pneumonia, and acute respiratory failure. After emergency treatment, his fever subsided and vital signs stabilized, though he remained lethargic. He immediately received 10 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Gradually, Mr. Kang regained consciousness, was able to recognize his family members, understand simple questions, showed significant relief of glossoptosis, and regained effective expectoration ability, with marked overall improvement. He was discharged home on the second day of the Lunar New Year to reunite with his family.
