Uncle Pan, 68 years old, fell into a coma after a severe car accident. Head CT revealed multiple cerebral contusions and lacerations, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and subdural hematoma. His condition was critical. After emergency surgery, he remained comatose, with high fever, excessive sputum, and was unable to be weaned off the ventilator. He was transferred to the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Department.
On admission:After comprehensive treatment including precise adjustment of anti-infective medications, bronchoscopic sputum aspiration, and improved ventilation, his body temperature gradually returned to normal. After 4 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, he was successfully weaned off the ventilator. After 6 sessions, his consciousness improved and he responded to calls. After 20 sessions, he was discharged with basic recovery of consciousness and the ability to follow commands with his limbs.
On discharge:At the 35-day follow-up after discharge, the patient was able to stand and walk independently.
